Director of Sales - Mass & Drug

The Role
Reporting directly to the VP of Sales, the Director of Sales (Mass & Drug) will lead the strategic sales growth within major retailers such as Target and Walgreens. They will work directly with 2 major accounts and oversee others with a directly-reporting Junior Account Manager and support of a Sales Executive.
In this role you’ll get to:
- Work directly with major retailers, Target and Walmart, to continue to grow Tangle Teezer’s space and productivity through strategic planning, strong relationship building, and creative thinking.
- Attend and lead annual line review meetings as well as other touch-bases throughout the year to build a strong partnership with two of our highest-potential retailers.
- Analyze weekly sales numbers and category data to be an expert in the brushes category at our biggest retailers. Use this to identify opportunities to grow the Tangle Teezer brand.
- Oversee the sales strategy for accounts in the Drug channel and other new, emerging channels such as Professional. This is managed directly by a Junior Account Manager who has been with the business for 18 months.
- Work as part of the US Sales team in achieving the company-set sales target as well as setting up business opportunities for the following fiscal year.
- Manage the spend and fees for all retailers under this remit within the approved budget for the year.
- Work closely with the demand planner to ensure accurate forecasting for the rolling 6 month period.
- Work cross functionally with Marketing, Logistics, and Operations to make all retail plans come to fruition successfully and with the highest impact possible.
- Learn all about Tangle Teezer’s patented two-tier teeth technology and sell our products passionately and confidently to deliver the best result possible.
- Work with NPD on all the upcoming product launches to speak with knowledge and clarity on the technology and positioning.
- Guide, mentor and develop two direct reports: a Junior Account Manager and a Sales Executive.
- Report directly to the VP of Sales and support them with preparation for internal meetings such as the weekly sales report to the C-Suite, their preparation for the CEO for the monthly board meeting, and similar.
What we are looking for in you:
- Minimum 10 years working in the hair & beauty industry in a sales role.
- Minimum 3 years working directly with the Target buying team in a senior sales role.
- A tenacious, strategic approach to sales and growing brands profitably and with integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Powerpoint, PowerBI preferable.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated and collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
